Now that we had the first snow fall and now that we are receiving reservations for the winter season, the website has put on his winter coat. Winter activities are at the top of the menu, the winter logo has replaced the summer logo and some pictures have been replaced by more wintery ones.

Le Mont-Dore is quickly becoming a real trail run paradise. The first of 3 signposted trail run routes are ready. Early 2014 ten signposted trail run routes will be available. The idea is to have in total 30 trail run routes in the vicinity of Le Mont-Dore - read: in the vicinity of Les Camélias. More information can be found on our special trail run page.

The Massif du Sancy has its own app. Free, practical, complete and with geo-localisatoin. All information for a stay on your mobile phone. The app can be downloaden via the App Store or via Google Play.

If you are thinking of staying with us during the December or February holidays, we advice you to book quickly. During a number of weeks we only have very limited availability left.

Nicolas Edet, a professional cyclist who did stay at Les Camélias earlier this year and did train in the Le Mont-Dore surroundings, did win this years Tour of Spain mountain classification.

Since trail running is very popular in France and since more and more people discover the extensive network of unpaved trails near Le Mont-Dore, we have created a page about trail running.

From Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 September Mont-Dore is dedicated to blues music. Because of a cancellation, we have one apartment available for this period.

Together with Livia van Eijlle of Le Relais de Voissieres we organise self-guided walking holidays where flexibility is paramount. For example, one can choose from:

• the number of days
• the start date
• the daily distances
• rest days or no rest days – for which you yourself can choose the location. You yourself can decide what to do on this rest day: a stroll, lounge about or another activity
• with or without luggage transport

Summer Calendar!

From June 15 until September 15 the seventh edition of Horizons - Rencontres "Arts Nature" takes place around the Sancy massif. The of itself already stunning landscape is during this period decorated by 10 art objects. Below a video made of the 2011 version of the Horizons exhibition.

Depending on the weather the car boot sale will be organised on the ice rink or in the Parc Municipal. Les Camélias will also be present with a stand.

After a recent visit to l'Aventure Michelin we could add some more 'bicycle decoration' to our Puy de Baladou apartment.

Thursday May 2nd the Panoramique de Dômes train will re-open. Because the train tracks spiral around the Puy de Dôme passengers have continuous alternating views during the train ride. Including a view on the many ancient volcanoes of the Chaîne des Puys. More information can be found on the (English) website of the Panoramique des Dômes.

From May 18, 2013 up until October 26, 2013 Flybe will fly between Southampton and Clermont-Ferrand v.v. More information.

Although we still have winter guests the Les Camélias website is ready for summer: summer activities are shown more at the top of the menu, the winter logo has been replaced by our summer logo and winter pictures have been replaced by more sunny ones. And the calendar has also been updated with many different activities.

Sunday March 10 Les Camélias did appear in a Dutch television program - GoCycling. Great images of the Les Camélias garden, the Cascade Queureuilh, the lake and the Col de Guéry, the Col de Saint Laurent and the Croizat hot spring! A video (withou commercial breaks) can be watched here.
