From playing golf to swimming in lakes

There are many activities to be done in summertime in the Auvergne region. What about playing golf at the 9 hole golf course in Le Mont-Dore or swimming in Lac Chambon, Lac des Hermines at Super-Besse (July & August), Lac d’Aydat or in the plans d’eau van Murat-le-Quaire en La Tour d’Auvergne.

Swimming pool

La Bourboule – at 6 km from Le Mont-Dore – has a swimming pool with sauna and hammam.

Adventure parc

Spectacular for children and adults is the adventure parc of Mont-Dore Aventures. Routes of varied levels go from tree top to tree trop in the heart of the Capucin forest, above Le Mont-Dore. There is also a Via Ferrata at the Pic du Capucin.

Rock climbing and mountaineering

The Sancy massif offers many possibilities for rock climbers. Just outside of Le Mont-Dore rock climbing can be enjoyed at the Capucin. At 9 kms from Les Camélias there the roués of the La Roche Tuilière. And in the Vallée de Chaudefour you can live it up at the “Crète du Coq” and the fearsome “Dent de la Rancune”. More routes can be found at Lac Pavin (Besse), Châteauneuf/Saint Sauves, Le Rivalet and Grandeyrolles.

Horse riding

The area of Les Camélias also offers many possibilities to horse riders. Les Ecuries de la Dordogne in Le Mont-Dore organises the whole year round tours through the Parc des Volcans. This you can then expect:

From the air

The Sancy massif can also be admired from the air. For instance, with a paraglider or with a hot air balloon tour.

Mega zip line

Super-Besse has a mega zip line. Technical information:

• 240 m difference in altitude
• 120 km/hour
• 45 m above the ground
• Duration: 1.20 minutes

Indoor activities

Tired of all the outdoor activities? In Le Mont-Dore there is also  a bowling alley, an ice rink and a covered jeux-de-boule area. And of course is also very pleasant to spend some time in our garden in summertime.
