During the Christmas holidays Les Camélias only has very limited availability left: only our apartment Puy de la Vache is still available from December 19 until December 24.

Sunday 18 January 2015 the Trail Hivernal du Sancy Mont-Dore will again be organised. Participants can choose between 20 kms with 800 meters of climbing or 30 kms with 1.300 meters of climbing. Registration for the 2015 version is no longer possible, withing 2 weeks 1.300 participants (the maximum number) have been registered.

Sunday 18 January the Trail Hivernal du Sancy Mont-Dore will again be organised. Participants can choose between 20 kms with 800 meters of climbing or 30 kms with 1.300 meters of climbing. Be quick, the maximum number of participants is limited!

Now that we soon will be closing for the renovation of our Puy de Dôme and Puy de Sancy apartments and now that we are receiving reservations for the winter season, the website has put on his winter coat. Winter activities are at the top of the menu, the winter logo has replaced the summer logo and some pictures have been replaced by more wintery ones.

Contrary to what was announced the following events will take place in a different order.

• French national trail run championships: 26 and 27 September 2015

This Friday at 8 pm in the Stade. Circus, acrobatics on giant bamboo sticks. In case of bad weather postponed to Saturday 4 October 8pm. This is what you can expect:

On 26 and 27 September 2015 these races will again take place and then form the backdrop for the French National Trail Run Championships. During the Volcanic Blues Festival (25 up to 28 September included) dance school Swinghome will give Lindy Hop dance lessons on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September. More information can be found on their website.

Saturday, August 30 we enjoyed with a wonderful mountain bike tour with some members of our local cycling club. Pictures can be found on our facebook page.

Friday 22 August Margriet, Wanda and Sandra tested a trail run clinic by Sancy Rando Trail. During the almost 17 km long very varied run we did not only get a lot of tips to run better, but also a lot of information about the flora and fauna of the Sancy massif. Strongly recommended! We can of course help organising a trail run clinic for our guests.

With 9 signposted trail run circuits Le Mont-Dore is a real trail run paradise. If this is not enough, La Bourboule - at 6 kilometers from Les Camélias - now also offers 4 signposted trail run circuits. More information can be found on our special trail run page.

Until 22 August included all our apartments are booked. We only have limited availability left in September and October.

The weekend of 6 September (Trails du Sancy) and the weekend of 25 September (Volcanic Blues Festival) all our apartments are already taken.

As of 16 October we will be closed for the renovation of our Puy de Dôme and Puy de Sancy apartments.

From June 14 until September 28 the 8th edition of Horizons - Rencontres "Arts Nature" takes place around the Sancy massif. The of itself already stunning landscape is during this period decorated by 10 art objects. Below a video of the inauguration:

Les Camelias is a partner of the Murol castle and the Jonas caves. Our guest therefore pay the cheaper group rate instead of the individual rate.

The video was made to promote CycloCols: 4 cols in the Auvergne are closed to traffic certain mornings from 16 June to 25 September from 6 am to 11 am except for cyclists and residents. 3 of those cols can be found close to Les Camélias:

Mondays: Col de la Croix Saint Robert.
Tuesdays: Col de la Genèste.
Thursdays: Banne d'Ordanche.

Le Mont-Dore is quickly becoming a real trail run paradise. 6 new trail run routes have been signposted. A total of 9 signposted trail run routes from Le Mont-Dore are ready. More information can be found on our special trail run page.

We already knew it for a while, but now there is national recognition for trail run possibilities near Les Camélias; in 2015, the French national trail run championships will be held in Le Mont-Dore. The two races will take place on 19 and 20 September 2015: 34 kilometers with 2,400 meters of climbing and 60 kilometers with 3,350 meters of climbing.

On 7 September of this year you can run these distances yourself during the Trail du Sancy event.
